Mrs. Stephens is retiring. She has been our principal for seven wonderful years. We will miss her! Please take a minute to read her goodbye letter.

Our 5th graders have been recording their stories and poems online with a program called "Voicethread".

Lee Johnson, our art teacher, and some 5th grade students have been painting ceiling tiles in our 5th grade classrooms. Each year Mrs. Johnson has the students paint several tiles depicting scenes some their favorite chapter books. Take a look at all the ceiling tiles they have created so far. They've done an incredible job! 
McKinley celebrates six years in a row of "High" on our CSAP Report Card!!! We are the only school in Cañon City to receive a rating of "High" for six straight years. Ratings are determined by progress made on CSAP scores each year. The staff wants to thank parents and the school district for the wonderful support they get all year long. Teaching is the most fulfilling job in the world when you can work with students, parents and community members who value education. It is really true that the education of our children has to be a team effort. Congratulations to all McKinley staff members! Thank you to our community!

McKinley Elementary is located in Cañon City, Colorado. Cañon City is surrounded on three sides by mountains. The Arkansas River flows through the town affording some great whitewater rafting. Cañon City is also home of the Royal George Bridge, the highest suspension bridge in the world!
